Now is the time for new and returning students to begin working on the college financial aid application for the upcoming school year.
Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jefferson Davis Campus is one of the 43 locations to host the second annual College Goal Sunday event on Saturday, February 27, 2010, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The event will be held in the Business Building, Rooms B-40 and B-41, on the Jefferson Davis Campus.
The purpose of the event is to assist families and students with completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) electronically on the computer. Participants will receive one-on-one assistance and general information regarding state and federal student aid programs. A $500 scholarship will be awarded at each site to be used at the winner’s college of choice during the 2010-2011 school year.
Students and/or parents should bring: completed 2009 federal tax returns (if available), 2009 W-2 forms and other 2009 income and benefits information.
College Goal Sunday is open to the general public and is free. Volunteers from college financial aid offices, high school counselor offices and the Mississippi GEAR UP office will assist with the event.
